A NEWSLETTER FOR LAKE NONA MIDDLE SCHOOL & BUSINESS COMMUNITY

Jenn Fugate

Principal's Message

Good afternoon Knight families. I hope this email finds you well and enjoying the last part of the weekend. We have officially wrapped up the first quarter of this school year, and we kick off this week with a student holiday and teacher workday as teachers finalize grades. Report card grades will be posted to Skyward on the 23rd. If you have not completed the OCPS Stakeholder survey which was sent to your email, we ask that you please take a few minutes to do so. Answers are anonymous and we truly appreciate your input.

Parents, please speak with your students about the current TikTok trends and challenges that have become prevalent. We have unfortunately noticed an increase in behaviors on campus directly stemming from these social media activities, some of which are disruptive or potentially harmful to students and our campus environment. Please understand that behaviors resulting from these trends are not permitted at school and will be disciplined immediately and consistently according to the OCPS Student Code of Conduct. Your partnership in helping us maintain a safe and focused learning environment is essential.

We kindly request your support in reviewing the dress code with your teen (available on our school website https://lakenonams.ocps.net) and discussing its importance. Your conversations at home can reinforce its purpose and help ensure your teen feels confident and comfortable following it.

Both of our soccer teams advanced to the county quarter finals this past week. Although they did not come out victorious and move on to the semis, we are so proud of the hard work and efforts our student athletes have put into making this year's teams successful. Congratulations on a great season! You are KNIGHT strong and make us proud.

Next week is National School Lunch Week. OCPS cafeterias are running a contest for students who receive cafeteria lunch all week. They will be entered into a drawing for a laptop. All they need to do is pick up a passport and get it stamped each day they eat school lunch. At the end of the week they turn in their fully stamped passport and who knows...they may be the lucky winner! Encourage your Knight to participate!

Our annual LNMS Fall Festival will be here on Friday, October 24 from 6-8pm! We are excited to host this fantastic, community event with our PTSA. See below for information and a QR code to purchase tickets. This year we are excited to bring bounce houses to the festival. The ticket is all inclusive with the exception of concessions. Come join us to kick off the fall season!
