Science Fair

Lake Nona Parents and Students,

It is that time of year again! It is time to get your Science on and do a Science Fair Project. Our third annual Lake Nona STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Knight will be held December 5th.  This is when projects from each teacher’s classes are displayed, presented and judged to go to the Ying Expo (our regional event).

Just a few notes:
Projects are required of all students.  Your child’s teachers will be facilitating projects in both Regular and Advanced/Honors classes as is appropriate for the students in those classes.

All information as it becomes available will be posted here on the School Website and announced on Facebook, in the Chronicle and it is posted in every teacher’s Canvas Course.

The first piece of information we have for you is our Tentative Timeline.  AND please be aware that the first deadline – topic selection (via the writing and submission of testable questions) is due this October 4.

Thank you and stay tuned for information about after school support and coming deadlines.

Parents and Students,

Though actual due dates may vary per teacher we are at the point at which students should be working toward completion of their research plans.

Research Plan can be obtained from each teacher's Canvas course and on the School Website.

Help sessions are also available in 3 ways.

  1. Through individual teachers - students can set up time with their teacher and meet with them as needed.
  2. The Science Department will be setting up a Help Booth in the mornings Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Cafeteria from 9 am - 9:20.
-This is a great time and location for students to come to get a quick answer to questions they may have about their projects or the Science Fair in general.

Tuesday and Thursday afternoons - This time is designed for help that requires more time and for groups working together. This will be from 3:55 - 3:45 pm.  Students will gather in the cafeteria and the supervising teacher will come down for them.

Dates of Science Fair Help Sessions:

AM - 9:00 - 9:20 am in Cafeteria                       PM 3:55 - 4:45 pm Students gather in Cafeteria (tutoring buses available to take kids home)

All projects are due completed, paper work, notebooks, board, everything... When we return from Thanksgiving break.
